Knowledge of drug issues
and the different sides of the problem requires a multi-disciplinary
research to be utilized as an instrument for the analysis,
elaboration of hypotheses, and design of efficient strategies
for the implementation of prevention activities at various
levels. Also, research contributes to fight drug trafficking,
production and micro-commercialization, more efficiently
and effectively.
The Research and Information Technology Unit has the function
to inform Perú and other countries on drug issues,
helping to find solutions; also, it relates to other units
and programs in order to design and orient prevention and
information activities to the community and to generate
public opinion against drug abuse.
STRATEGIES:
· Investigate the main levels and aspects related
to drug issues (opinions, values, consumption, etc.)
· Build evaluation models for research methodologies
to integrate qualitative and quantitative aspects.
· Interact with other institutions to exchange information
and achieve synergies.
Products delivered:
· 21 Research Studies on drug issues, mainly: epidemiological
studies, public opinion studies conducted with youths, public
opinion leaders and the population in general, and studies
conducted with coca-growing farmers.
· 5 epidemiological research studies on drugs (tobacco,
legal and illegal drugs) with Peruvian school children.
· 19 publications of the "Psicoactiva"
Science Magazine and 2 books.
· 11 Research studies promoted with local professionals
and institutions.
· 5 research studies with international research
experts and international institutions.
· 1 research study on the illicit drug market of
Metropolitan Lima.
· 9 research studies on social marketing contributing
to the consolidation of methodological processes and the
establishment of institutional networks for qualitative
and quantitative evaluation of the impact of the massive
prevention campaigns conducted by the institution.
