GENDER-FEMALE
PROGRAM
Peru has a feminine
population of approximately twelve million women. More than
five million have less than 18 years of age.
Although during
the last decade the situation and position of Peruvian women
has evolved in a relatively positive way, these improvements
have not been translated into the well being of women in
all areas. For example, drug abuse among women has increased
in the last years due to stressful situations, exhaustion,
concerns and overload of responsibilities that in many cases
should be shared with others.

Some of the factors that
until now restrict the integral development of women in
our country are the cultural prejudices concerning the roles
they must play and the inadequate knowledge of their rights.
Considering that woman is
an element of change due to her role within the family and
the community, CEDRO has gathered the work experience with
different organized women groups and has implemented the
Program Woman and Prevention with a gender perspective.
